Found on the South Coast of Britain,Brighton is one of the cities in the county of Essex that together with a number of other cities and hamlets is known generally as the town of Brighton and Howe. This area was inhabited in traditional times and appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086. In 1514, the buildings in the city were burned by the invading French armed forces and only a tiny portion of the hamlet escaped the fire – St. Nicholas Church and the area now called the Lanes.
Brighton changed into a preferred beach resort in the 18th century as the concept of holidaying outside of the town took hold with the wealthier members of the populace of Britain .
