One of the 7 wonders of the natural world, the ravine’s awesome rock formations, color differentiations and craggy crevices mix to form a hauntingly lovely holiday destination. Grand Ravine camping and hiking journeys are great paths to see the elegance of one of the state’s most famed national parks for yourself.

These are some of the finest Grand Ravine camping spots :

South Edge:

* Mather Campground – Found near Grand Canyon Village, Mather Campground offers great camping close to all of the South Edge’s conveniences and hiking trails. No hookups are available, but RVs are welcome. Or try the opposite Trailer Village, an RV campground with full hookups. Campsites fill up quickly at both locations during top months, so reservations are highly recommended from Apr though Nov . Discounted off-season camping is available from December thru March without reservation, making this an inexpensive option for winter RV camping.

* Desert View Campground – Besieged by pions and juniper, this isolated Grand Ravine camping spot is snuggled twenty-five miles from Grand Canyon Village, but within walking distance of monumental Desert View Overlook.

* Grand Ravine Train line RV Park – For an old-fashioned family journey, try staying in significant Williams, Arizona rather than in the park. Found on old Route 66 around thirty miles west of Flagstaff, this little Western city is the home of the Grand Ravine Train line . Spend your Grand Ravine camping trip here, and take the 60-mile train ride from Williams north to Grand Canyon Village on a classic steam engine.

North Edge

* North Edge Campground – For Grand Ravine camping with less visitors, try the North Edge Campground. Open from mid-May to mid-October, it is an out-of-the-way alternative choice to the busy South Edge . facilities are limited here – no hookups are available, and after mid-October, the campground might be closed for the winter.

* Kaibab Camper – Found just north of the Grand Canyon’s North Edge , is the closest campground to the North Edge that offers full hookups for RVs. Found along the shores of Jacob Lake, Kaibab Camper Village offers secluded Grand Canyon camping among old-growth pines. It is also a short drive from other striking natural sites, including Bryce Ravine and Zion State Park.
