Having lost some of the English vacations trade in recent times, Malta has been successfully rolling back the trend. The Mediterranean country state has been a vacation destination for tourists from Germany, Italy, France, Holland and the United Kingdom for several years. During the past British holiday makers have always composed a high proportion of the general traveller trade.

But as coverage of Malta as a vacation destination dropped off in the UK press, so did tourism. The Malta holiday maker board commenced taking assertive steps. These steps included awarding airfield slots to a couple of the low priced airlines, like Ryanair.
